NEET results may be delayed

New Delhi: The result of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test may not be declared on Thursday (June 8) as scheduled earlier. The delay occurs due to the stay by the Madras High Court on CBSE in declaring the results. Though the Madras HC considered the petition today, it has posted the case on Friday for further hearing. The ambiguity over result announcement has put lakhs of medical aspirants in the country in a difficult situation.
As of now, the CBSE had not made any notification regarding announcement of NEET result either on CBSE official website or NEET website. Instead, it has directed the students to keep in touch with the website to know the exact date.
In an interim order, Justice M V Muralidharan had on May 24 stayed the publication of the NEET results and directed officials of the Medical Council of India, the CBSE director and the Union Health Ministry to file their counter affidavits.
On Tuesday, the CBSE had denied in the Madras High Court that vernacular question papers for NEET 2017 were easier than the papers in English. Seeking vacation of the stay, the CBSE counter said the question papers had been set -- at easy average and tough levels -- and they had been moderated by the experts and the issue of one question being tougher than the other did not arise.
It is learnt that the Health Ministry is yet to file the affidavit in the Madras High Court.
