Educational requirements ( शैक्षिक आवश्यकता ) : M.Sc Hydrochemistry/ Marine Chemistry/ Chemical Oceanography/ Chemistry/ Inorganic Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry/ Marine Science with specialization in Chemical Oceanography.
Experience requirements ( अनुभव ) : The candidate having experience in carrying out chemical analyses of seawater, sediment and biota will be preferred.
Job responsibilities / description ( उत्तरदायित्व) :Selected candidate will have to carry out extensive field work onboard research vessels and fishing boats, perform the processing and analysis of water, sediments and biota, maintain and manage project database and preparation of reports.

Educational requirements ( शैक्षिक आवश्यकता ) : B.Sc Physics / Geology
Desirable qualifications ( वांछनीय योग्यता ) : Knowledge of magnetism and magnetic minerals. Working experience o magnetic instruments (Molspin, Bartington) for measuring paleomagnetic and environmental magnetic parameters. Knowledge in measurement of paleo-magnetic parameters on the sediment samples is preferred.
Job responsibilities / description ( उत्तरदायित्व) :The candidate is required to work and assist the scientists in carrying out rock/ enviro/ paleo magnetic measurement on marine sediment core samples. The candidate may be required to participate in ship cruises for geological/ geophysical investigations.

The National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) with its headquarters at Dona Paula, Goa, and regional centres at Kochi, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam, is one of the 37 constituent laboratories of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. CSIR-NIO was established on 1 January 1966 following the International Indian Ocean Expedition (IIOE) in the 1960s. The institute has since grown into a multi-disciplinary oceanographic research institute of international repute. The principal focus of research has been on observing and understanding special oceanographic characteristics of the Indian Ocean. The results have been reported in more than 5000 research articles so far. The institute has a sanctioned strength of 200 scientists and 100 technical support staff. The major research areas include the four traditional branches of oceanography – biological, chemical, geological/geophysical, and physical – as well as ocean engineering, marine instrumentation and marine archaeology.
