India-Chevening Scholarships: Apply by November 7

Chevening is the UK government's global scholarship programme that offers future leaders the unique opportunity to study in the United Kingdom.
New Delhi: Applications have been invited for the India-Chevening Scholarships for 2018-19.
Chevening is the UK government's global scholarship programme that offers future leaders the unique opportunity to study in the United Kingdom. These scholarships are awarded to outstanding professionals from different countries to pursue a one-year Master's degree in any subject at any UK university.
Chevening provides fully-funded scholarships, leaving the student free to focus on achieving professional goals and enjoying the experience of a lifetime. Applicants will live and study in the UK for a year, during which time he/she can develop professionally and academically, network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.
Scheme: The Scheme includes (i) University tuition fees (ii) a monthly stipend (iii) travel costs to and from the UK (iv)an arrival allowance (v) a homeward departure allowance (vi) the cost of one visa application and (vii) a travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK.
Applicants from India can choose any course of study at any UK higher education institution. When selecting field of study, applicants may refer to the UK priorities at https://www.gov.uk/government/world/india
Eligibility: Applicant must be a citizen of India and should return to his/her country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after the award has ended.
Applicant should have an Undergraduate degree that will enable him/her to gain entry onto a Postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK. Applicant must hold a degree at the time of application. Higher Master's qualification is sufficient to be eligible for a Chevening Award. Applicants may also check with their preferred universities to ensure that they meet their entry requirements for the chosen courses.
Applicant should have at least two years' work experience. Applicant should apply to three different eligible UK university courses and should receive an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 12th July 2018.
Applicant should also have a valid passport/national ID card and University transcripts and degree certificates (undergraduate, postgraduate).
Applicant should meet the Chevening English language requirement by 12th July 2018. Applicant must demonstrate that he/she fulfils a Chevening English language requirement by 12th July 2018. Applicant should either take an English language test or claim an exemption based on the UKVI exempt categories. The application will not be successful, if the applicant fails to demonstrate that he/she has met the required English language level by 12th July 2018 or fail to prove that he/she has qualified for an exemption. Chevening accepts English language tests from five providers, Academic IELTS, Pearson PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge English: Advanced (CEA) and Trinity ISE II (B2). Applicants will not be permitted to take pre-sessional courses to fulfil the English language requirement. Details are given at http://www.chevening.org/apply/english-language-requirement.

If applicant is shortlisted to interview for a Chevening Award, he/she will be invited to attend an interview in the city where the British Embassy or High Commission has a representation. The global interview period for 2018/2019 Chevening Scholarships will run from 5th March to 2nd May 2018. Interviews for fellowships may take place at a different time.
