Over 30,000 students appear in Class XII & Class XI exam

Kohima: Over 30,000 students today appeared in the Higher Secondary and the Class XI examination conducted by the Nagaland Board of Secondary Education while the indefinite bandh called by NTAC Kohima and JCC affected normal life in the state.
The students appearing in the Higher Secondary and Class XI examination are exempted from the purview of the ongoing bandh.
A total of 32,744 students, comprising of 25,015 in Arts stream, 2,496 in Commerce and 5233 in Science are appearing for both the exams, which will end on March 6.
To help students reach their examination centres in the state, the bandh organisers have allowed public transport, private vehicles and taxis to ply during examination hours.
Tomorrow the High School Leaving Certificate Examination for Class X, also conducted by NBSE will commence.
Western Angami Youth Organisation vice president Asa Seyie said measures have been taken so that students and teachers on examination duty do not face any harassment from volunteers of Naga tribal organisations in view of the bandh.
The Nagaland Tribes Action Committee (NTAC) Kohima and Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) have imposed a total bandh in the state protesting Chief Minister T R Zeliang’s refusal to step down on moral grounds.
The NTAC Kohima and JCC yesterday conceded to the request made by several Naga tribal students organisations and civil societies for exempting the students from the purview of the bandh.
Dobashis, who are traditional keepers of law and order situation under the administration and police personnel were deployed at the examination centres.
The indefinite bandh imposed by NTAC Kohima and JCC affected normal life in the state for the second day today.
NTAC Kohima and JCC said the bandh would resume tomorrow morning with the timings and exemptions set as per the convenience of the respective district tribe organisation.
Markets, banks and government offices remained closed and people preferred to stay indoors.
JCC organisations have clarified that the current movement should not be mixed up with any political agenda.
“Our demand is not negotiable,” the JCC said.
Nagaland government had fulfilled the demand of NTAC with regard to declaring the entire process of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) election with 33 per cent reservation for women as null and void, while the second demand for suspending the police personnel involved in January 31 police firing on the protesters leading to the killing of two youths in Dimapur has been partially fulfilled as they have only been transferred.
The organisations, however, are adamant in their demand for the CM’s resignation.

Bank of Baroda has released the exam dates for BOB Sweeper Cum Peon Computer Based Test (CBT) 2016-17. The BOB Substaff Exam 2016-17 will be conducted from February 15 to Feb 28, 2017. The candidate appearing for the exam should get ready for the exam as just a few days are left. BOB will soon release the admit card for CBT at the official website of Bank of Baroda. Candidates should keep a constant check on the official website for getting their call letters on time.
BOB Substaff Exam 2016-17 will be conducted from Feb 15 tentatively for the recruitment of sub stuff/sweeper cum peon posts in various branches of the bank across the country. The region wise admit card for written exam will soon be published online. Candidates are impatient in getting their admit Card. NEET 2017: Petition to roll back age criteria filed in Supreme Court

A petition to roll back the age criteria for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate courses has been filed in the Supreme Court on Friday. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s decision to introduce age and attempt cap for NEET has students up in arms across the state.
The petitioner, 27-year-old Sabyasachi Rai, qualified NEET last year but did not take admission as he could not afford the fees of private medical college. “My father was ready to sell our ancestral land. I decided to go for another attempt but with the unexpected announcement on age criteria, I have become ineligible to take the exam. I am not demanding job from the government but my basic right for education,” said the son of a farmer.
The petition, to be listed on February 17, states that the government should take back the new rules on age and attempt.
According to the guidelines, a candidate can appear only thrice for NEET and his age should not be over 25 years. Students who have been preparing for the entrance exam are unhappy with the decision.
Thirty-year-old Pallavi Srivastava, an aspirant from Bihar’s Samastipur, has to face a tough time convincing her parents to put money in her education. “Being from a conservative background, my parents wanted me to get married. But I wanted to pursue higher studies in medicine. With the introduction of new criteria, I am ineligible to apply,” said Srivastava who feels small city students will be badly hit.
“When I came to Patna after Class 12, I realised most of our concepts on Physics and other subjects were unclear. We did not know what kind of questions are being asked in entrance exams. With these criteria, how many small town students will be able to become doctor?” said Srivastava.
Earlier, medical aspirants who have already given AIPMT and NEET 2016 over three times were notified ineligible to appear for the entrance examination. However, on February 3, the authorities clarified the NEET 2017 will be counted as first attempt for all the candidates, irrespective of their previous attempts in AIPMT/NEET.
Dr Anand Rai, who has been vocal about medical aspirants rights, said education is the fundamental right and the government should take its decision back. “Thousands of students are depressed as their dream to become a doctor is over. Such announcement should have been made a year ago,” said Rai.

UPSC NDA And NA Examination 2017: Last Date Of Application Today

NEW DELHI: Union Public Service Commission released the notification for National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) on January 18. The last date to apply for the exam is today. Candidates must apply for the exam on the official website before 6:00 pm today. The application process is completely online and candidates should keep in mind to fill the form correctly. The website might pose loading issues since it is the last date to fill the application form.
To apply, candidates will have to first register on the UPSC website and then fill the application form. The application fee can be remitted both offline and online. However, since it's the last day of application, candidates must pay the fee online only.
Candidates who complete the application process on time, will be issued an admit card three weeks before the exam. The written examination is scheduled on April 23, 2017.
UPSC NDA and NA Exam 2017: Important points about the Exam
With the closing of the application process, the countdown to the examination begins. Here are some important points which you must keep in mind while appearing for the exam:
There will be a penalty of one-third of the total marks allotted to a question in case of a wrong answer. There will be no deduction in marks for unanswered questions. So avoid making guesses while attempting a question.
Use only black ball pen to fill details and mark answers in the OMR sheet. Carry at least two black ball pens to the exam center.
The written exam will have two papers - Mathematics and General Ability Test. The duration of the exam will be 2.5 hours for each paper.
The Paper I (Mathematics) will have 120 questions carrying 300 marks. Paper II (General Ability Test) will have 150 questions carrying 600 marks.
General Ability Test will have two sections - English language (200 marks) and General Knowledge (400 marks)
